I just got back from the doctor and he had good news...well the best that we can hope for anyways.
The bone marrow test came back negative, so the cancer is localized to my chest and neck. This means I am stage 2a. Which is good! The only thing better would be no cancer at all. My muga scan results were normal so i will do fine with chemo. Speaking of chemo, i will receive ABVD. It is a mixture of chemotherapies that has shown to be extremely effective with this cancer, there is a 92% cure rate. I will have 6 rounds, so within 6 months i will be cancer free! Also, I finally found out what my pet scan showed. The tumors in my chest are all below 2 cm so that is also good.
The doctor said I will have very few side effects with chemo. I will most definitely be tired a lot but I don't have to worry about fertility issues or anything of that sort. I will lose my hair, but I've been preparing myself for that. It grows back anyways.
I want to thank Mrs. Vondette and Mrs. Kirby for ordering purple support bracelets. They are amazing and I am amazingly grateful for them. I can't wait to see people wearing them!
That's about it for now. I have exams next week and then I'll be home. I start chemo on the 20th and I will update around then!
That is great news! Keep up the great work. With regards to losing your hair, think of it as an opportunity to try new hair styles and scarves. And not everyone can do “no” hair well. I’m sure you can pull it off and make a trend of it to boot. Bill was glad he got to talk to you and your dad today. Thanks for all the updates. Diane
